READY FOR SPAGHETTI

Just two food enthusiasts in KL city sharing our experiences with the world

I LOVE YOO!

http://iloveyoo.com.my

spotted this stall in Ikano, One Utama, Midvalley-Gardens, Empire, Pavillion and im sure so many other malls! so watch out!

This place is the ultimate snack stall, i’m pretty sure whoever came up with Yoo! was a snack lover cause this certainly hits the spot to get you past that horrible in-between eating times (lunch-*sadface*-dinner).

specialising in cha kuai and porridge! we had cha kuai with the scallop porridge. It sounds pretty simple and it is but damn so gooddd

Other things that can be found here are pretty much the whole fried bread thing, fried bun, mix bun, fried yam, i wouldnt mind trying all one day..maybe. definitely like to try to yam

Probably me favorite was the sesame lotus ball (try to get the freshly cooked ones). i think i had to go back 5 days in a row to have atleast just one. it was the fatty in me, just…couldnt..sttop…myself. ahh. but good news… it’s cheap! so it wouldnt break into your wallet :) unless you buy like..100 of eveything?

I tried the Yoo! at Empire and it was alot better than the Ikano one cause that one was old already meh still alright but try to go to the newer and crowded ones so you know the batches are constantly fresh..or fresher atleast.. fresher? more fresh?

YAY!!

SINGAPORE TRICKED ME AGAIN.

SSTwo Mall opened. still pretty empty but there’s some new restaurants opened and I wanted a try! It was between Belanga and Henry Cook.

From the outside, Henry Cook has all these claims of ‘award winning dish’ and must try ‘our glorious food!’ hung out for everyone to see. So, I thought they’re confident that they have awesome food, let’s give it a try.

This picture is kind of dark but the deco was really nice and comfy. Then I found out this was a branch originating from Singapore. And so I had second thoughts. How good can Singaporean food be? It’s not been good so far…

But then we saw that in their reading selection, Calvin n Hobbes can be found. Im pretty sure this was what made us stay to try it out. meh.

The menu actually had pretty cool choices. So I did get a bit excited, it all ‘sounded’ great!

We ordered the beef stew (RM19). It was chef recommended and in the picture it looked great but then you always learn to never trust pictures on menu. When this was set on the table I thought of how unappealing it looked. They were really generous with the amount of beef but the taste..was…..BORING. it was like nothing. A tiny little bit of beef taste but but but thats all. I thought salt? pepper? seasoning? ANYTHING? the rice was also really bland. ugh. it had some aroma taste to it but it was bland. how did they manage to cook up a meal like this? Worst part it was RM19!!!??? dammmnnn :(

Bamboo Chicken Noodle Soup (RM9.90). This, again, ‘sounded’ great. Hey bamboo chicken? I love bamboo chicken! BUT THIS WAS HORRIBLE. ALMOST INEDIBLE. The soup kosong at chicken rice shop had more flavour than this!!!!! REALLY. IM NOT KIDDING. The noodles itself had bad texture. BLUEK BLUEK!

Anyways, maybe it’s my fault for ending up in a dumb Singaporean restaurant in Malaysia. Atleast I can warn you?

DON’T GO HERE. Haven’t tried Belanga yet BUT IM SO SURE IT’S BETTER.

MAGNUM CHOCOLATE TRUFFLE

I can’t explain to you how happy I am that Malaysia now has Magnum’s Chocolate Truffle and best part, this amazing ice cream only costs RM3.90. I’ve been having it everyday for 5 days now. Okay fine, when you eat it like that then it cost alot but it’s just so worth I cant even…..

No Vanilla, brown on brown, chocolate all the way. This ice cream taste expensive with an outer layer of belgian chocolate covering the silky chocolate truffle ice cream.

MUST TRY. Can be found in 7-11! and even some petrol stations. ah the joy!!!

Seoul Garden Korean BBQ Steamboat All You Can Eat Buffet

One Utama, LG Floor.

http://www.seoulgarden.com.my

Seoul Garden Korean BBQ Steamboat Buffet sounds like quite the mouthful and infact it is! I’ve notice this place a few times, I see people walk in all excited, so I decide to figure out, what is this place!

The title of this post says it all so I won’t explain any further.

My friends and I went on a weekday cause they only offer students prices then ( I loooove places that consider students, ahh so kind!) RM22.88+ per student for lunch, please take note lunch and dinner have different prices. Prices for Adult Dinner is about RM36.

the place is clean and nice, can get a bit warm after awhile since everyone is boiling and BBQ-ing away.

So when you enter you have a few choices of soup that you want your food to boil in, it goes something like herbal, chicken, kimchi. We chose kimchi. you know, korean. Okay, they start the fire, pour the soup and then ….it begins.

the choices they give you is quite awesome! Noodles.

Vegetables and Tofu

You can make a fresh salad if you want.

Prawns, clams, fish etc

Chicken and Beef, the roast beef was my favorite! But too bad no lamb :(

Take what you want from the big spread of choice and cook! If you’re free, looking for something to do to hang out with friends, this is quite fun!

There’s also already cooked food like fried rice, fried buns, noodles. I didn’t try these though.

They also go awesome dessert, this is for your cendol and yes there’s an ice crushing machine! Ice cream and coffee also available!

By the end of the whole thing we asked each other, was it worth the money? I’ll be honest and say, i’m bad at buffets, I eat little cause I get full fast and then yea..so maybe not for me but if you can stay there for a couple of hours and take advantage of all that food then yeaaaaaaa it’s worth it!!

I love eggs. I think eggs just make everything taste that much better.
I remember when I was a teenager for some odd reason I decided I didn’t like eggs anymore so I gave it up for about 2 years.
What was I thinking??
Ridiculous teenage thinking is what it is is what it is!! Never again.

WAROENG PENYET

@The Curve, Mutiara Damansara

I wasn’t even sure if I had to even talk about this place, I just figured that heh everyone already knows about it and how good it is. BUT then it happened, I met someone who’s never heard of the place, who’s never even…tried ayam penyet!!? So I brought her there, she loved it and all that and it’s made me realise the obvious, never assume! Ofcourse not everyone has tried this place and plus, it’s great food, ALWAYS TALK ABOUT GREAT FOOD.

When here we usually order the rice dishes. Above is the Lele Penyet RM6.90. I usually order this here, it’s like chicken but fish. Best of both worlds. Soft, tender and tasty. no complaints.

Empal Penyet RM7.90 aka flattened beef. This used to be my favorite but sometimes the beef can be a bit tough, but that problem is usually overseen by it’s awesome flavour.

The fish and beef came with cabbage and chilli, tofu and my favorite tasting tempe hmm.

The one complaint that I do have about this place is that the rice dishes don’t come with any sort of soup not even soup kosong, so after awhile it can get a bit dry. My friend said that’s cause in Indonesia they eat it with a sauce or something like that but it’s okay! We ordered this Soup Ekor RM9.90, it went well with our other dishes and they’re generous with the meat.

Great hearty meal. I want some now.

Please also try the Ayam Penyet/chicken if you’ve never tried it before. It’s they’re specialty.
